Skydiving Australia FAQs
Skydiving frequent questions
Here are just some of the answers you can find in our full page dedicated to Frequent Questions Skydiving in Australia
What is the minimum age to skydive in Australia?
16 years old. This is regulated by the Australian Parachute Federation across all dropzones in Australia.
What should I wear skydiving in Australia?
Dress for the season and weather on the day, but take into account that the temperature will be a few degrees lower at altitude. It is very important to wear enclosed shoes like trainers.
How dangerous is skydiving?
Like any other extreme sport, skydiving has risks. With the advances in gear, training and regulations, fatalies are rare. You are more likely to suffer a fatal car accident.
Does your stomach sink skydiving?
Skydiving will be very different from the feeling you get on roller coasters. Exiting the plane is surely and adrenaline rush, but due to relative wind both on exit and in free fall, it feels more like floating.
What's the weight limit for skydiving in Australia?
The weight limit to skydive is usually around 110 kg, which may differ slightly by dropzone. This is for safety reasons and equipment integrity.
Can I skydive solo in Australia?
Absolutely! With the Accelerated Free Fall (AFF) course you can learn to skydive solo. It consists of a ground course followed by 9 skydives, assisted by experienced instructors.
What is the oldest age to skydive?
There is not a maximum age limit to skydive in Australia, we get visitors in their 70s, 80s and even 90s! The main limiting factor is overall health and mobility, for the safety of our staff and customers.
Can you breathe skydiving?
Some people suffer severe sensory overload and anxiety, but you can breathe normally while skydiving. Our advice is to take a few deep breaths on the way up and have a positive mindset to relax as much as possible. During the freefall the best way to breathe normally is to look at the horizon, rather than facing the relative wind underneath.
